Privacy Policy

OwneDeals (operated by PegaSky LLC) respects your privacy. This summary covers the same material as the full, regularly-updated Privacy Policy that our React application renders once JavaScript loads. Where the two differ, the live React-rendered version (which carries the current effective date) is controlling.

What we collect

We collect only the information needed to operate the marketplace: account details (email, username, password hash via Clerk), listing data (vehicle attributes, photos, asking price, location), messages between buyers and sellers, and usage analytics (page views, clicks, device type, approximate location from IP). We do not collect payment-card numbers; paid features are processed by Stripe and we only retain the last four digits and the Stripe customer ID.

How we use it

We use your data to deliver and improve the marketplace — showing relevant listings, powering AI deal scoring, sending notifications you have opted into, preventing fraud, responding to support requests, and complying with legal obligations. We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it with third parties for cross-context behavioral advertising (within the meaning of the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the CPRA).

Third-party services we use

Advertising — Google AdSense and partners

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to OwneDeals and/or other sites on the internet. You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings (or for any participating ad network at www.aboutads.info and youradchoices.com in the U.S., or at youronlinechoices.com in the EU).

Even if you opt out, you will still see ads — they will simply be non-personalised (contextual) rather than tailored to your interests. We also use the IAB Transparency & Consent Framework (TCF v2.2) so that EEA, UK, and Swiss visitors are asked for explicit consent before personalised advertising cookies are set. Declining means no advertising cookies are loaded.

Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies that are strictly necessary (login session, CSRF token, theme preference), analytics cookies (GA4), and advertising cookies (Google AdSense, DoubleClick DART). Analytics and advertising cookies are loaded only after you accept the cookie banner. You can change your choices at any time using the "Cookie Settings" link in the footer, which reopens the banner.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under the EU/UK GDPR, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), or other state privacy laws (Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon, and others) — including the right to access, correct, delete, or port your data; the right to opt out of "sale" or "sharing" (we do neither); and the right to limit use of sensitive personal information. To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected] from the address on your account and we will respond within the timeframe required by law (45 days under the CCPA, 30 days under the GDPR).

Children

OwneDeals is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA/UK) and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact [email protected] and we will delete the account.
